Time You Start Encrypting Your Messages

Welcome to Nosy Eye. We’re the Arnold Palmer of privacy. Packed with flavor [and info]. Light on reading time.

Here’s what we got for you today:

  • End-to-End Encryption Messaging and Calls

  • Action Tip of the Day

This is an A & B convo. Cee your way out.

End-to-end encryption ensures that your calls and messages remain confidential. It works by encrypting the data at the source, your phone for example, and only decrypting it at the recipient's device.

This means that no one other than the sender or recipient can access the content of that message or call.

Let’s get into a high-level overview of how it works. When you use an end-to-end encrypted messaging app, your phone creates its own passwords (keys) that protect your messages.

The keys that protect your message are created and stored on your phone, so no one else can get them unless they have access to your phone.

Popular Encrypted Messaging Apps

There are several encrypted messaging apps available today, but here are three popular options we’re comfortable talking about. Each has their advantages and disadvantages.

At the end of the day, if you have something you’re not willing to risk being released into the wild, better to have that conversation privately in person.

Signal

Signal is a free and open-source messaging app known for its strong encryption and privacy features. It uses end-to-end encryption to secure all messages and calls.

Telegram

Telegram is a cloud-based messaging app that uses end-to-end encryption to protect messages and calls. It offers features such as secret chats, which use self-destructing messages that can't be forwarded or saved.

But I’ve got nothing to hide?

Yeah, we doubt that. You probably have nothing nefarious to hide (which is good btw). But it isn’t wise to wait until you have something worth hiding.

Improved Privacy

Encrypted messaging and calls can help prevent eavesdropping and snooping by third parties, such as hackers, governments, or service providers.

Secure Sharing of Sensitive Information

Although we do not recommend doing this, encrypted messaging is a more secure way to share sensitive information, such as financial or personal data.

Encrypted Video Calls

Many encrypted messaging apps also offer video call functionality, allowing you to have secure video conversations with others. This can be especially useful for remote work or virtual meetings.

Action Tip of the Day

Download Signal and start migrating your conversations over to it. No need to be drastic though.

Just start with a close friend or family member and see how it works for you. Then keep it gradual from there.

Over time, you'll find that a majority of your contacts and communications exist in a secure environment, providing you a little more peace of mind.

That’s what we all want. Well, most of us at least.

That’s all we have for you today. Adios, for now.
